How we use cookies and similar technologies

This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies Vita et Pax Preparatory School uses on this website, why we use them, and how you can control them. It is written to meet the requirements of the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files (and similar technologies such as local storage) placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to remember your actions and preferences over time, and to measure how the site is used.

Your choices

When you first visit this website you will see a banner offering three options: Accept all, Reject all, and Manage. Until you make a choice, no analytics or advertising cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time by clicking Cookie settings.

We use Google Consent Mode v2. This means that even where Google services are present, they receive a "denied" signal from your browser until you give consent, and behave accordingly.

Categories of cookies we use

1. Strictly necessary

These are required for the website to work properly. They do not collect any data that identifies you. Under PECR, consent is not required for strictly necessary cookies.

Cookie / Storage Purpose Duration
vep-consent-v2 Remembers your cookie consent choice Persistent (localStorage)
vep-a11y-prefs Stores your accessibility preferences (text size, contrast, etc.) Persistent (localStorage)

2. Advertising

Set only if you consent. These let us measure which of our Google ads led to an enquiry or open-morning booking, so we can spend the school's marketing budget responsibly. We do not target advertising based on sensitive categories, and we do not share data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Cookie Purpose Duration
_gcl_au, _gcl_aw Google Ads — links ad clicks to on-site conversions Up to 90 days

Withdrawing or changing consent

You can change your choices at any time using the Cookie settings link, or by clearing your browser's site data. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

Browser cookie settings

You can also control cookies through your browser. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies; please note that disabling strictly necessary cookies may affect how this website behaves.
