Year 6 Leadership Roles: Building Tomorrow’s Leaders

Posted: 13th September 2024

This week, our Year 6 students were given the exciting opportunity to apply for their leadership roles for the academic year. As part of our school’s commitment to developing independence and responsibility, each student was invited to write a letter or submit a short video explaining why they should be chosen for their desired role.
The positions available include Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy, Deputy Head Girl, House Captains, School Council representatives, and Prefects. Each role carries its own responsibilities, giving students the chance to develop important skills such as teamwork, communication, and decision-making.
Several students expressed a keen interest in becoming Head Boy or Head Girl, demonstrating their leadership potential and desire to represent the school. These prestigious roles involve acting as ambassadors for the school at various events, supporting their peers, and working closely with staff to make a positive impact on the school environment.
Other students applied for roles as Deputy Head Boy or Deputy Head Girl, while others were eager to take on responsibilities as House Captains, leading their respective houses in competitions and events throughout the year. School Council representatives will act as the voice of their classmates, ensuring student ideas and concerns are heard. Prefects will help to maintain a positive atmosphere around the school, assisting with various duties and setting an example for younger students.

This process not only gives our Year 6 students the chance to showcase their leadership skills but also helps them grow in confidence and responsibility as they prepare for secondary school. By stepping into these roles, our students are learning the value of independence, collaboration, and serving their community—important qualities they will carry with them long after they leave primary school.
