Vita et Pax Preparatory School Students Shine at the Mini London Marathon
On Saturday, April 20th, children from Prep and Pre-Prep at Vita et Pax Preparatory School in Southgate showcased their enthusiasm and athleticism by participating in the Mini London Marathon. The event kicked off at Horse Guards Parade in Central London, where the atmosphere was electric with excitement as thousands of children gathered to take part.
The students from Vita et Pax were assigned to wave 32, and the morning began with a dynamic warm-up session led by Joe Wicks, famously known as The Body Coach and for his “P.E with Joe” workouts. This energizing start set the tone for the young runners as they prepared for the one-mile race. Parents eagerly raced across St James’s Park to catch a glimpse of their children at the finish line, hoping to cheer them on as they crossed.
The course for the Mini London Marathon was a scenic route starting from Horse Guards Parade, continuing along Birdcage Walk, passing the iconic Buckingham Palace, sweeping around Constitution Hill, and culminating down The Mall. All of the students from Vita et Pax completed the mile in under 12 minutes, a testament to their hard work and dedication. The fastest time recorded by the school’s runners was an impressive 7 minutes and 30 seconds.
In addition to the joy of participation, every child aged 17 or under who completed the race helped secure a £10 donation from TCS, the sponsor of The London Marathon. This donation will be used to enhance the school’s PE or IT equipment, further promoting physical activity and education.
The TCS Mini London Marathon aims to inspire young people to embrace physical activity, highlighting the significant benefits of regular exercise for both physical health and mental well-being. Congratulations to all the participants from Vita et Pax for their fantastic achievements!
